This year Open the Book celebrates 20 years of Bible Story based assemblies in Primary Schools - what an amazing milestone! Open the Book teams all over the UK got together to celebrate in many different ways; some of us were greatly encouraged by attending a Service of Celebration in Colwyn Bay, along with Storytellers from across North East Wales. Most of all though, we wanted to be sure we marked the Anniversary with our schools. For our own celebration, Agathos worker Wendy Swan teamed up with Lowri Mitton, PCW worker to unite five Primary Schools in Flintshire to perform a show held at Bethesda Chapel, Mold. Lowri and Rev Huw Powell-Davies translated the show, written by Paul Kerensa, into Welsh and Wendy divided the 10 Acts amongst the schools. Lowri chose some great songs and we had a Jamborama on our hands! (More than a jamboree; not just a drama!) Following several weeks of visiting the schools to teach songs and drama, on September 25th 270 pupils came by coach and car to celebrate together. Despite bouts of illness keeping some of our stars at home, the show DID go on and was a great success! Several understudies stepped up to shine and we took a witty dash through the whole Bible in a little over an hour, with memories made to last a lifetime.
