The term started with a training day to equip the new Open the Book storytellers which Trustee Lowri Mitton had been recruiting in the summer term, in line with Agathos' vision to help connect churches with their local schools.
It's now easier to be in more than one place at once - with six new helpers in our regular schools we are able to offer assemblies in more than one school at a time. For instance I can lead assemblies in one of the Secondary schools while the capable teams continue the programme in the primary schools for the week.
With three more storytellers offering help in the New Year we will be able to offer the fantastic and easy to lead Open the Book programme to more schools in our area, as well as offering to equip and support teams to offer to Open the Book for other schools outside our focus area.
The more people offer to become storytellers, the more schools can be offered regular Bible story assemblies and a great link with a local church. It only takes about an hour per assembly - please get in touch if you're interested in getting involved. It really is a very very simple programme to follow and is great fun to be involved with.
