This was my (Kieran's) first week of Internship with Agathos and today was my first informal lunchtime schools work session. Wendy had given me the task of coming up with an idea and after some Googling and thinking I came up with the idea to have an icebreaker game for the new year 7s at the high school to get them talking, making friends and maybe give them a laugh. Now I had the idea but was yet to make the ball with all the questions on and the clock was ticking... I ventured into town to try and track down a beach ball, which seemed like an easy task until I started looking in various shops and was faced with the a mountain of Halloween and Christmas decor (only a few months early there shops!). And so the task of finding a beach ball in September went on! I eventually found one, tucked at the back of a shelf, discarded from the rest of the summer boxes that had gone into storage, covered in dust & looking bleak... the beach ball no one had shown the beach. I knew instantaneously, this was the ball for the task... Agathos would give this beach ball the destiny it deserved and a future every other beach ball could only dream of. And so Wendy and I set to work, after much decorating with the new sharpies Wendy had bought for that year the beach ball was complete!! We then (with not much time left) left the office and headed to the local high school for the activity. Once we arrived the new year 7s, and some older pupils too, loved the activity. It was a great ice breaker activity that got the pupils talking and chatting about everything from serious questions like "Is God real?" to more relaxed ones like "Coke or Pepsi?" or "Happy in a shed, or sad in a palace?".
